Jaeschke’s Hill River Clare Estate has been named in the prestigious top 100 and taken out a Blue Gold medal for its 2013 Riesling at the 2015 Sydney International Wine Competition.

Jaeschke’s Hill River Clare Estate 2013 Riesling was judged by a panel of judges from across Australia as well as New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States, making it through three rigorous judging levels including a final judging with professionally prepared food, to win the Blue Gold status.

Jaeschke’s Hill River Clare Estate directors Lyn and Robert Jaeschke say they are thrilled with the top 100 and Blue Gold medal win in the dry aromatics category.

“We entered the wine to benchmark ourselves and in the hope of receiving some feedback from highly regarded judges.” Lyn says.

“We know that we love the wine and that family and friends have enjoyed it, but winning Blue Gold at a prestigious competition such as the Sydney International Wine Competition confirms that we are making good wine.”

The award follows back-to-back gold medals at the Clare Wine Show, with the Sydney award winning 2013 Riesling also winning gold in Clare last year, and the 2014 Riesling taking out gold at this year’s Clare Wine Show.

Relative newcomers to the grape growing and winemaking game, the Jaeschkes are set to embark on only their fifth vintage, making the gold medal win even more special.

Lyn and Rob say they are grateful for the hard work of their staff and for the valued contribution of the wine makers at Pikes Wines, Polish Hill River.

Jaeschke’s Hill River Clare Estate cellar door at 406 Quarry Road, Clare, is open by appointment by phoning Lyn on 0419 838 772.
